TL;DR
Electrical Controls Technician (Manufacturing) (PLCs/Instrumentation): Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, calibrating, and maintaining electrical controls, instrumentation, motors, drives, and manufacturing equipment with an accent on PLC programming, safety, and preventive maintenance. Focus on diagnosing complex electrical and control faults, configuring hardware and software, executing work orders, and maintaining reliable facility operations.

Location: Lithia Springs, Georgia, United States; onsite, 12-hour PM shift

Salary: $34.75–$50.50 per hour

What you will do

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain electrical equipment, instrumentation, motors, drives, PLCs, control panels, alarms, and facility systems.
  • Diagnose electrical, motor, instrumentation, and control-system issues using voltage and amp readings, wiring traces, relay and motor tests, and sensor evaluations.
  • Complete and prioritize work orders, perform preventive maintenance, enter data into CMMS/EAM, back up programs, and keep schematics, prints, and manuals current.
  • Configure and maintain hardware and software for electrically controlled devices and ensure compliance with the Controls Change Management System.
  • Collaborate with operators, maintenance mechanics, and engineering to maintain safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Explain technical issues professionally, assist with mechanical repairs when appropriate, and train or coach others using technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in electronics, an electrical diploma/certificate, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting with PLC troubleshooting and programming.
  • Experience troubleshooting VFDs, servo motors, and electrical control systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Windows, industrial software, and CMMS/EAM; ability to read electrical schematics and create redlines.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and lifting for extended periods.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Logix and Siemens S7 platforms, including integrated motion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics or an electronics-related field.
  • Five years of equivalent experience in a related field.
