RF Communications and Networking Technician (RF Communications)

Location: Remote within the United States; up to 25% travel required. Conditions: Portsmouth, Virginia.

Salary: $32.84 per hour. Health and welfare: $5.09 per hour.

What you will do

• Install, plan, monitor, and test telecommunications and network infrastructure, including fiber and network backbones.
• Develop testing, diagnostic software, and telecommunications and network troubleshooting procedures.
• Analyze circuits, waveforms, electromagnetic radiation, and signal flow to isolate complex malfunctions.
• Use advanced test instruments, including high-frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and computer control equipment.
• Coordinate with clients and the Program Manager to resolve problems and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Lead tasks, schedule work, enforce standards, and provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and a current DoD Secret clearance are required.
• High school diploma and a certificate from an accredited community or technical college in fiber and data cabling.
• At least eight years of experience as a communications or network technician.
• Experience with circuit analysis, waveform calculations, signal-flow tracing, and complex electronic test instruments.
• Ability to travel approximately 25% as needed.
