Network Installation Specialist - Journeyman (Fiber Optics)

Location: Remote with 90% travel for CONUS deployments and potential future OCONUS assignments

What you will do

• Conduct technical site surveys and evaluate infrastructure readiness for network and system upgrades.
• Install, route, secure, and document fiber optic, copper, rack, ladder rack, patch panel, and cable management infrastructure.
• Perform fiber fusion splicing, connector termination, cable preparation, and DC power installation.
• Conduct and analyze OTDR, power-meter, and continuity tests to troubleshoot and repair fiber issues.
• Prepare detailed Site Survey Reports and maintain accurate network route and infrastructure documentation.
• Mentor technicians and coordinate with the Project Manager, PMO, and Government Points of Contact.

Requirements

• Active Secret Clearance required to start; Top Secret preferred.
• Ability to travel 90% of the time for CONUS and potentially OCONUS deployments.
• At least five years of experience, or equivalent related technical education and experience, in networking or electronics installation, maintenance, or repair.
• Proficiency with Telcordia standards, fiber optic splicing, and fiber testing equipment.
• Experience installing network devices such as IP routers and optical/IP switches according to Department of War and industry standards.
• Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Outside Plant fiber and fiber cabinet experience.
• Experience with equipment manufacturers such as Corning.
• Familiarity with network security products and Army installations.
