Audio Consultant (Professional Audio)

Location: Boulder, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; or Southern California. Hybrid work model; fully remote work may be available based on qualifications. Travel up to 10% as needed for project work.

Salary: $85,000–$105,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design professional audio and audiovisual systems for new construction and renovation projects.
• Meet with clients, end users, venue operators, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to define operational and performance requirements.
• Develop system concepts, narratives, specifications, drawings, budgets, and construction documentation.
• Design performance audio, distributed audio, paging and mass notification, DSP, Audio-over-IP, recording, broadcast, and audiovisual systems.
• Develop loudspeaker coverage models and evaluate system performance using prediction software.
• Support construction administration, RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations, commissioning, testing, tuning, validation, issue resolution, and project closeout.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in audio system design and consulting.
• 4–8 years of experience in professional audio, audiovisual consulting, system integration, venue operations, or a related field.
• Experience designing, operating, installing, or commissioning professional audio systems.
• Knowledge of loudspeaker systems, mixing consoles, DSP, Dante, AVB, AES67, microphone and wireless audio systems, signal flow, gain structure, and system optimization.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, organization, time-management, and client-facing skills, with the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Degree in Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Music Technology, or a related discipline.
• AVIXA CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I certification.
• Experience with EASE, manufacturer-specific audio modeling software, and installed sound commissioning and tuning.
• Experience supporting live events, theaters, houses of worship, sports venues, or entertainment facilities.
• Familiarity with acoustical concepts and room performance metrics.
