Staff Wire Harness Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing high-complexity power, digital, analog, and RF interconnects for satellites, spacecraft, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other airborne platforms with an accent on schematic development, cable routing, connector selection, and harness assembly drawings. Focus on defining EMI/EMC compliance, radiation tolerance, space charging requirements, integration and testing, and cross-functional reliability and manufacturability.

What you will do

  • Design high-complexity wire harnesses for space and airborne systems and associated ground support equipment.
  • Own harness designs from initial specifications through schematic development, cable routing, connector selection, assembly drawings, integration, and testing.
  • Define harness requirements and workmanship standards, including EMI/EMC compliance, radiation tolerance, and space charging considerations.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers and harness assembly technicians to meet system performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Support integration, troubleshooting, supplier coordination, contract manufacturing, and build-quality and schedule outcomes.
  • Present technical solutions in design reviews and serve as the subject matter expert for interconnect systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of relevant industry or university research experience.
  • Proficiency with harness design tools such as Capital Essentials or Zuken E3.
  • Knowledge of wire routing, controlled impedance, cable shielding, electrical and mechanical engineering principles, and EMC considerations.
  • Experience with high-reliability components including D38999, Micro-D, and Nano-D connectors, plus M227569/M27500 wire series.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing for space environments.
  • Hands-on wire harness assembly experience.
  • IPC-WHMA-A-620 harness build certification.
