Senior HVDC Switchyard Commissioning Engineer (HVDC)

Location: Spain, Madrid, Tres Cantos; office/site only. The role includes worldwide business trips and mainly long-term assignments at construction sites in Germany and abroad, with optional offshore platform assignments.

What you will do

• Test and verify HVDC hardware and software in test centers and during customer acceptance activities.
• Configure, test, and commission switchyard control systems for HVDC plants.
• Commission bay control units and associated high-voltage switchyard components.
• Trace software defects and support Software Engineering with debugging.
• Support Commissioning Management with quality, risk, and claim management.
• Contribute to Lean, reviews, lessons learned, and coaching new colleagues.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, energy technology, or a related field; certified technician qualification is also accepted.
• Strong professional experience commissioning bay control units, including SIPROTEC 5 and DIGSI 5.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage and substation technology, interlocking logic schemes, and automatic control sequences.
• Fluent English is required; German proficiency is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel worldwide and work on long-term construction-site assignments is required.
• Team-oriented, communicative, proactive, and capable of decision-making and constructive conflict handling.
