What you will do

  • Oversee the preparation, sterile compounding, order verification, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.
  • Dispense chemotherapy, biologics, controlled substances, sterile products, and investigational medications.
  • Evaluate medication orders for completeness and appropriateness and consult with providers and nurses to clarify them.
  • Identify, resolve, and prevent drug-related problems and adverse drug events while optimizing therapy.
  • Perform quality control for medication orders, prepared medications, compounding logs, refrigerators, hoods, emergency carts, and controlled-substance inventories.
  • Oversee pharmacy technicians and students and contribute to staff training and multidisciplinary education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Five years of hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care, or sterile compounding experience, including four years of oncology experience; alternatively, completion of a PGY2 oncology or relevant specialty residency.
  • Active Massachusetts pharmacist license required; additional licensure may be required for some satellite locations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across teams, use pharmacy technology and drug information resources, and exercise critical thinking.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems within the scope of practice and escalate appropriately.
