Location: Boerne, Texas; onsite Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

What you will do

  • Prepare, compound, and admix oncology and non-oncology medications under the supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist.
  • Review medication orders for completeness, patient information, and physician authorization.
  • Calculate dosage volumes and prepare medications accurately and on time while following department, OSHA, state, federal, and interoffice guidelines.
  • Maintain controlled-substance records, temperature logs, protocol and patient-assistance drug logs, and other required documentation.
  • Manage inventory, including quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, medication orders, supplies, labeling, data entry, and pre-billing review.
  • Clean and maintain hoods and admixture areas, dispose of hazardous materials properly, and perform quality-assurance activities in accordance with USP requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five to seven years of pharmacy experience with IV skills.
  • Oncology experience or extensive IV preparation experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication preparation, pharmacy records, inventory control, quality assurance, and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, read and record measurements, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Work involves regular patient contact and potential exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.

Nice to have

  • IV certification.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or qualification recommended by the State Pharmacy Board.
  • Completion of an ASCP-accredited or community-college pharmacy program.
