What you will do

• Interpret complex medical information between providers, patients, and families from intake through discharge.
• Provide accurate interpretation of consent forms, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and discharge plans.
• Deliver services in person, by video, and by telephone, prioritizing emergency and urgent requests.
• Process language assignments, contact patients, maintain accurate service records, and document patient-related information.
• Act as a cultural broker when communication is affected by cultural differences and make appropriate referrals.
• Follow medical interpreter codes of ethics and standards of practice while supporting Interpreter Services operations.

Requirements

• Fluent written and verbal English and Spanish required.
• National Certification for Medical/Healthcare Interpreters required.
• At least 3 years of experience working as a medical interpreter.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
• Strong concentration, organization, interpersonal, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human relations field, such as Sociology or Psychology, preferred.
