Interpreter - Per Diem

What you will do

• Interpret spoken communication between English and the target language for patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Explain cultural differences that may contribute to misunderstandings between patients and providers.
• Translate correspondence, brochures, forms, documents, and diagnostic procedure materials.
• Support family meetings, consent collection, appointment notifications, procedures, diagnoses, and patient care conferences.
• Accompany patients to operating rooms or other departments when interpretation is required.
• Respond to emergency on-call requests, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Interpreter Certification from an accredited college or university.
• At least one year of relevant interpreting experience.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in both English and the target language.
• Advanced knowledge of interpreting techniques, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, and treatments in both languages.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA/HITECH guidelines and work effectively in a busy clinical environment.

Nice to have

• National Certification for Medical Interpreters.
• Three years of relevant interpreting experience.
