Location: 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215; 100% onsite

Salary: $56,000–$64,200 per year

What you will do

• Interpret complex medical information between providers, patients, and families, including consent forms, diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans.
• Provide interpretation in person on campus, by video, and by telephone, prioritizing emergency and urgent requests.
• Support patients and clinical providers throughout appointments and refer patients to appropriate resources when needed.
• Process language assignments, contact patients, follow office protocols, and maintain accurate service records.
• Act as a cultural broker when culture-bound messages compromise communication.
• Follow medical interpreter codes of ethics and standards of practice and complete required competency assessments.

Requirements

• One year of experience working as a medical interpreter.
• Fluent written and verbal English and Cantonese required.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, basic anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
• Certificate of completion of a medical interpreter training program required.
• Strong concentration, interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human relations field is preferred.
