Professional Assistant Professor of Sociology

Location: Main campus in Stephenville, Texas; onsite, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM or as teaching requirements indicate. Teaching may be assigned at other Tarleton campuses or through approved instructional modalities. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Plan and deliver undergraduate and graduate lectures, seminars, and laboratory offerings.
• Teach courses including Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, and upper-level sociology subjects.
• Develop syllabi, instructional materials, assessments, and curriculum improvements.
• Assess student performance, provide feedback, and support learning outcomes.
• Mentor students through office hours, academic guidance, and assignment feedback.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service, recruitment, and faculty mentoring.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Sociology from an accredited university; ABD candidates may be considered if the terminal degree is posted at appointment.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills required.
• Disciplinary knowledge sufficient for graduate-level instruction.
• Ability to teach effectively, collaborate professionally, and interact collegially with students, staff, and faculty.
• Applicants with degrees earned outside the United States must provide English translations and an official credential evaluation.
