Senior Mechanical Preconstruction Manager (Mission Critical)

Location: Minneapolis, United States

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year, with potential commission and/or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead preconstruction and estimating for mechanical scopes across mission-critical projects.
• Develop conceptual and detailed estimates, cost models, budgets, quantity take-offs, and bid proposals.
• Solicit, compare, and select subcontractors while evaluating pricing, scope, resources, and project requirements.
• Support value design, procurement, scheduling, constructability reviews, temporary mechanical systems, and early subcontractor negotiations.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, consultants, commissioning agents, clients, developers, and field teams.
• Train cost engineers and project management staff and deliver formal sales presentations to prospective customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in the commercial or mechanical construction industry.
• Employment eligibility requires verification of authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong communication, professionalism, customer focus, honesty, and integrity.

Nice to have

• Mission-critical data center project experience and mechanical subcontractor preconstruction experience.
• Experience with early procurement of scopes and equipment and evaluating sustainable mechanical-system initiatives.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, building types, procurement methods, CSI, and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.
• Working knowledge of DESTINI Estimator, Microsoft Excel, OST, and Bluebeam.
