R&D AI Manager

Location: Princeton, New Jersey, United States. Hybrid working model combining work from home with on-site presence at client or hirify.global offices for the majority of the week. Client-facing work requires travel as needed.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy AI/ML solutions across Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, including trial design, clinical operations, evidence generation, medical content, and scientific engagement.
• Translate complex R&D and medical problems into scalable solutions using structured and unstructured clinical, operational, real-world, literature, and medical content data.
• Define data science strategies and lead the development of predictive, prescriptive, and generative models that are explainable, validated, and production-ready.
• Lead RFPs, proposals, points of view, pilots, client roadmaps, and advisory engagements focused on practical AI adoption and measurable value.
• Own project scoping, planning, risk management, quality assurance, and end-to-end delivery across consulting, technology, product, and domain teams.
• Mentor data scientists and analysts while building reusable data science assets, accelerators, and platforms for life sciences AI delivery.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or applied AI, including at least 2 years in a people- or workstream-leadership role within life sciences.
• Experience applying analytics and AI in pharmaceutical or biotech R&D, preferably across Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs.
• Strong understanding of regulated R&D environments, including data quality, validation, traceability, and compliance.
• Hands-on experience with regression, classification, clustering, predictive modeling, and other statistical and machine learning methods.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, strong SQL knowledge, and experience working with structured and unstructured clinical, operational, real-world, text, and medical content data.
• Experience with client engagement, proposals, project execution, stakeholder influence, communication, mentoring, and cross-functional delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with statistical programming tools such as SAS or MATLAB.
• Contributions to whitepapers, conference presentations, or publications in Clinical AI, Medical AI, or evidence generation.
