Designer III - Transfer Switch (CAD)

What you will do

• Design components, subsystems, and complex full assemblies for transfer switch products.
• Prepare and maintain detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, schematics, specifications, kits, bills of materials, and field-kit instructions.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior designers to resolve design discrepancies and develop precise documentation for complex or original designs.
• Perform tolerance stacks, basic stress and strain analysis, and fit, form, and function checks.
• Identify solutions to design challenges and contribute to departmental standards and procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors and mentor or assist other team members.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Design or equivalent work experience.
• At least 7 years of new product design experience involving engine- or motor-driven machinery, equipment, or powered tools.
• At least 7 years of AutoCAD experience.
• Strong knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T aligned with ASME Y14.5, tolerance stacks, stress and strain, and fit, form, and function.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, complex parts and assemblies, and manufacturability considerations.
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally, prioritize responsibilities, stay organized, and communicate effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with enclosure, mechanism, or electromechanical design.
• Experience with CREO or SolidWorks, Windchill PLM, SAP, or comparable systems.
• Experience managing large CAD assemblies and working with sheet metal, plastics, and castings.
• Basic knowledge of electrical concepts and panel wiring.
• Experience mentoring others and working across multiple product development projects.
