Principal Civil Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: London, United Kingdom. The role includes in-person client meetings, on-site reviews, and travel across the UK and abroad. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Provide civil engineering input for large-scale electrical and renewable energy projects, including BESS, Solar PV, ASHP, and industrial boilers.
• Produce drawings, schematics, technical reports, specifications, tender assessments, and other project documentation.
• Lead or coordinate detailed geotechnical and structural design, subcontractor delivery, design reviews, and technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Prepare engineering work packages and contractor scopes of work for pricing.
• Support the delivery team during construction, manage engineering changes, and assess technical and constructability risks.
• Liaise with client stakeholders and participate in regular project meetings.

Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in civil or structural engineering.
• Chartered engineer status achieved or in progress.
• Experience leading development activities, building project scopes, and assessing design constructability.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools.
• Legal eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to travel across the UK and abroad.

Nice to have

• Experience with substations, BESS, or industrial buildings.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design software.
