Field Service Engineer (Life Sciences)

Location: Remote from Hong Kong; frequent travel across Macau, Taiwan, and the JAPAC region, approximately 25–50%.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot complex Molecular Devices instruments and automation systems.
• Develop technical expertise, including support for CellXpress.AI.
• Deliver customer-focused service using standard processes and planning tools to reduce response time and equipment downtime.
• Prepare service, expense, and spare-parts records in accordance with established procedures.
• Collaborate with Technical Support, Product Support, Sales, Application Scientists, and channel partners on product improvements, demonstrations, and service growth.
• Build customer and partner relationships in Hong Kong and Macau and promote service plans, compliance services, and time-and-materials offerings.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a Field Service Engineer supporting high-end, complex instruments.
• Strong understanding of service operations, resource planning, service processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience managing channel partners, distributors, or third-party service providers.
• Knowledge of life science applications, biological samples, assays, and instrument maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic computer applications.
• Strong communication skills in English and Chinese; ability to travel and carry equipment weighing up to 20 kg.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting laboratory instruments, cell-based assays, or analytical workflows in research or pharmaceutical environments.
• Master’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, life sciences, automation, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Windows SQL, automation or imaging systems, and multinational companies.
