Senior Systems Verification & Validation Engineer (Aerospace & Defence)

Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh, United Kingdom; on-site 3–4 days per week

Salary: GBP 40,000–65,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead system verification and validation activities for aerospace and defence applications.
• Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and reports against industry standards and project requirements.
• Integrate and validate complex systems for air- or land-based platforms with cross-functional teams.
• Identify, document, and track system issues, collaborating with engineers to resolve discrepancies.
• Support risk management, mitigation, and continuous improvement across the system lifecycle.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in system verification and validation, preferably in aerospace, defence, or a related industry.
• Strong understanding of system integration, test methodologies, requirements traceability, and compliance verification.
• Proficiency in Polarion, test automation tools, and scripting languages such as Python.
• Knowledge of standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, or MIL-STD.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience from a technical military background.
• Willingness and eligibility to obtain SC security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with MBSE tools such as SysML or DOORS.
• Familiarity with real-time embedded systems and communication protocols.
• Experience with defence or aerospace standards, safety-critical systems, risk management frameworks, or certification processes.
