TL;DR
Controls Specialist (BMS/HVAC): Installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining building management systems for HVAC, lighting, fire protection, and other facility operations with an accent on DDC controls, BAS programming, and reliable mechanical-system performance. Focus on diagnosing control-system issues, developing programs and preventive-maintenance records, integrating systems through BACnet, Modbus, LON, and Metasys, and coordinating with contractors and engineering teams.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; 100% on-site, Sunday through Friday, 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.

Salary: $52.75–$55.53 per hour, plus an overnight shift differential.

What you will do

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair DDC and building automation control systems.
  • Install, configure, program, and maintain BMS controls and graphics for HVAC, lighting, fire protection, and other facility systems.
  • Write new control programs, update software revisions, and support training for DDC systems.
  • Perform building-equipment rounds, preventive-maintenance activities, and operating-log updates.
  • Maintain accurate control-system, energy-management, CMMS, work, and preventive-maintenance records.
  • Coordinate with HVAC and controls managers, contractors, engineers, trades, project teams, and institute professionals.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience with HVAC building automation control systems, including troubleshooting.
  • Experience with BAS programming using LON, BACnet, Modbus, and Metasys.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, building construction standards, applicable codes, blueprints, and control-system installation.
  • Basic Ethernet/TCP-IP networking, IP addressing, network communication, and low-voltage electrical testing skills.
  • High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, strong computer skills, and ability to travel extensively; occasional on-call work may be required.
