Software Engineer (Cloud-Native Applications)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (hybrid)

Salary: $125,300–$208,800 annually

What you will do

• Design and deliver software solutions that accelerate research workflows and improve data analysis.
• Build and maintain modern microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Translate requirements into high-quality, performant code and own technical decisions within project scope.
• Ensure the scalability, maintainability, reliability, testing, and documentation of developed systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, scientists, peers, and other technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to shared codebases, code reviews, technical standards, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent knowledge.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another major cloud provider.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node, plus React or a similar framework.
• Experience with microservice architectures, API design, cloud security best practices, CI/CD, and DevOps principles.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication and the ability to work in a hybrid Toronto role.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
