Translation Manager (Translation Operations): Leading a translation department delivering high-quality, timely, and cost-effective translations into English with an accent on people management, quality assurance, terminology, and workflow optimisation. Focus on capacity planning, CAT tool and termbase adoption, KPI-driven improvements, vendor coordination, and collaboration with stakeholders on high-impact communications.
Location: London or Norwich, UK; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do
- Lead and develop a team of Translation Specialists and a Translations Project Coordinator.
- Plan and prioritise translation demand and team capacity to meet deadlines and service levels.
- Own translation quality standards, terminology, style guidance, and review processes.
- Oversee end-to-end delivery for key programmes and high-impact communications.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, scope requests, agree timelines, and provide translation advice.
- Manage CAT tools and termbases, track KPIs, support vendors, and work with large language models to improve translation operations.
Requirements
- Native-level English and strong translation expertise, including translation into English from at least two of French, German, and Spanish.
- Proven experience leading operations and managing people, including performance management and development.
- Strong understanding of translation QA, terminology management, and style consistency.
- Experience with CAT tools and translation workflow optimisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
- IoL DipTrans, an MA in Translation, a modern languages degree with a significant translation component, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- In-depth insurance or reinsurance industry knowledge.
- Experience with Wordfast, Trados, or MemoQ.
