HR & Safety Specialist (Manufacturing)

Location: Washington, NC, United States; regular movement throughout a manufacturing and office environment is required.

What you will do

• Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant employee records and support HR administration, payroll support, employee relations, and return-to-work processes.
• Partner with facility leadership and corporate teams on employee engagement, workplace culture, employment-law compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Lead facility safety initiatives, inspections, OSHA compliance activities, PPE programs, and regulatory coordination.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver new-hire safety orientations, ongoing safety training, and certified forklift operator training.
• Manage first aid, CPR coverage, occupational health, workers’ compensation, safety metrics, and Safety Committee activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in HR administration and payroll support.
• 5+ years of experience in safety, manufacturing, industrial, or woodworking environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety programs, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage priorities independently.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Safety, Business, or a related field.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Experience with ERP systems, business management software, and manufacturing operations.
