Assistant Professor Tenure Track - Sociology (AI)

Location: Main campus in Stephenville, Texas, United States. This is a 9-month tenure-track position with weekday hours generally from 8 AM to 5 PM; teaching may also be assigned at other campus locations or through approved instructional modalities.

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate and graduate sociology courses, including Introductory Sociology and courses related to the successful candidate’s expertise.
• Design syllabi, instructional materials, assessments, and active-learning activities.
• Assess student learning, provide feedback, and support students through mentoring and academic guidance.
• Maintain an active research and scholarship agenda, producing publications and presentations with potential for national impact and external funding.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain students while contributing to program development and institutional service.
• Participate in university committees, student and faculty recruitment, club sponsorship, and other service activities, including duties as a Campus Security Authority.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Sociology from an accredited university; ABD candidates may be considered if the terminal degree is posted at appointment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.
• Disciplinary knowledge sufficient for graduate-level instruction and effective teaching and research.
• Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.
• Employment may require a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials.
• hirify.global will not pay the $100,000 H-1B fee; a Texas moratorium may affect the ability to employ candidates requiring new H-1B sponsorship.

Nice to have

• National or international research and publication record.
• University teaching experience in face-to-face and online formats.
• Experience pursuing funded research.
• Ability to teach Introductory Sociology and engaging undergraduate courses in a demonstrated sociology specialization.
• Expertise in environmental sociology, sociology of work and organizations, sociology of science and technology, user experience, artificial intelligence, digital sociology, or applied sociology.
