Senior Environmental Specialist

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States; regular work in manufacturing facilities and up to 20% local travel required.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for environmental compliance programs across multiple manufacturing facilities.
• Interpret federal, state, and local regulations and convert them into practical site implementation plans.
• Conduct compliance assessments, inspections, internal audits, and program reviews covering air, hazardous waste, wastewater, stormwater, chemical storage, and related areas.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and follow-up on compliance commitments.
• Prepare air permit applications, permit modifications, registrations, emissions inventories, Tier II and TRI reports, hazardous waste reports, and permit monitoring submissions.
• Partner with plant, operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHS teams on process changes, capital projects, facility expansions, training, and EMS improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of environmental compliance experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and industrial compliance programs.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into clear operational expectations and lead through others without direct authority.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and execution skills.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environments and travel locally up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Multi-site manufacturing or corporate environmental experience.
• Experience with ISO 14001 systems, auditing, or certification programs.
• Experience with Title V air programs, emissions inventories, PTE calculations, and environmental permitting.
• CHMM, CEP, PE, or equivalent professional certification, or the ability to attain one.
• Experience supporting capital projects, facility expansions, regulatory agency interactions, and inspections.
