TL;DR
Clinical Research Financial Analyst II (Clinical Research Finance): Developing and managing budgets for clinical research studies with an accent on cost projections, financial agreements, and budget negotiations. Focus on monitoring study expenditures, maintaining CTMS financial tracking, preparing forecasts and analyses, and resolving complex financial issues across the clinical trial lifecycle.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; hybrid work with 2–3 days onsite per week

Salary: $75,100–$84,500 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, present, monitor, and amend budgets for clinical research studies.
  • Review clinical trial protocols and Medicare Coverage Analyses to support budget development and negotiations.
  • Build and maintain budgets and financial tracking in the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
  • Lead budget meetings and negotiate financial agreements with funding sources, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare cost projections, financial reports, forecasts, analyses, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with clinical research, contracts, accounting, and finance teams to resolve inquiries, improve revenue collection, and optimize study budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of financial management experience.
  • Knowledge of the clinical trials lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Access, finance software, and financial system applications.
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex information, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Previous clinical research experience.
  • Experience providing leadership, coaching, or mentoring to junior team members.
