Senior Manager, BESS Deployment Programs (BESS)

Location: Stockton, California, USA

Salary: $158,000–$230,000 USD annually, plus variable compensation including short-term and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Lead full-lifecycle delivery of large-scale water utility and EPC energy and storage projects from development through commissioning and transition to service.
• Coordinate engineering, contractors, permitting, utilities, subcontractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Act as the primary client contact, managing communications, reporting, documentation, commercial coordination, and DOE requirements.
• Develop scopes of work, subcontractor agreements, and change orders while managing budgets, project financials, and cost performance.
• Manage master and short-term schedules, track progress, address delays, and maintain delivery against approved scope, specifications, timelines, and budgets.
• Lead cross-functional and field teams while ensuring safety, operational standards, contractual compliance, regulatory compliance, and a successful handoff to operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• 7+ years of project management experience with direct P&L responsibility.
• 3+ years managing complex EPC or industrial projects, such as water, power, oil and gas, or nuclear projects.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, influencing, business acumen, and financial management capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed and global organization.

Nice to have

• Technical engineering degree.
• Battery Energy Storage Systems experience, including design, permitting, and utility interconnection.
• Energy project development and construction experience.
• Grant funding and Federal grant administration experience.
• Experience working with state utility regulators and in project or change management.
