Sr Veg Mgmt Program Manager (Vegetation Management)

Location: Hybrid in Oakbrook Terrace, Chicago, Maywood, or Lombard, Illinois, United States. The role may require extended hours during storms and other energy delivery emergencies.

Annual salary: $86,400–$118,800, plus a 15% annual bonus for eligible positions.

What you will do

• Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of utility vegetation management programs, projects, and process improvements.
• Manage programs and projects ranging from approximately $2 million to $30 million, including scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, invoices, and business plans.
• Oversee program teams and 100–300 contract field personnel, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop business cases, project charters, performance indicators, reports, controls, and tracking mechanisms for leadership and stakeholders.
• Lead change management, business readiness, employee and external personnel training, and process enhancement initiatives.
• Respond to operational emergencies, including safety incident investigations, outages, and storm response activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a STEM-related discipline with 4–7 years of field experience, or an equivalent associate degree or high school diploma pathway with the required experience.
• Experience leading craft or non-craft teams and managing complex programs, budgets, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Strong communication, presentation, public speaking, customer relations, analytical, financial, critical-thinking, and conflict-management skills.
• Experience with utility or vegetation management, strategic planning, capital projects, performance metrics, competitive bidding, and sourcing operations.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance and FERC or other regulatory requirements.
• International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist certification is required within one year of employment, or a state forester license or ability to obtain one where available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business or a STEM discipline.
• International Society of Arboriculture Utility Specialist certification.
• Experience with utility-specific work management and financial software, GIS, and remote sensing technologies.
• Experience developing technology-enabled process efficiencies and evaluating vegetation management components for capital projects.
