Transportation Logistics Analyst - Columbia, MD or Coppell, TX

Location: Must be based in Frederick, Maryland; Columbia, Maryland; or Coppell, Texas, USA

Salary: $71,000–$100,000 annual total compensation, including base salary, variable pay where applicable, and benefits.

What you will do

• Analyze transportation spend, cost drivers, accessorials, rate variances, expedited freight, and service costs to identify savings opportunities.
• Support transportation RFPs, carrier benchmarking, lane optimization, cost-to-serve analysis, total landed cost modeling, and network optimization.
• Develop transportation KPIs, dashboards, and standardized reports using SAP/ERP, transportation management, carrier, and freight audit data.
• Perform root-cause analysis of service failures, cost variances, data issues, and performance gaps, then recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate capacity, consolidation, mode shifts, standardization, scalability, and other transportation network opportunities.
• Present business cases and recommendations to leadership while collaborating with logistics, procurement, finance, engineering, production, program management, and trade compliance stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, business, finance, analytics, computer science, engineering, or related field.
• At least three years of experience in transportation analytics, supply chain analytics, logistics finance, business intelligence, or a related area.
• Experience analyzing transportation spend, logistics performance, cost structures, and operational data across multiple modes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems, transportation management systems, carrier platforms, freight audit systems, or related technologies.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, communication, presentation, data governance, and cross-functional project leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-tech manufacturing, aerospace, defense, electronics, or another regulated industry.
• Experience with high-value, export-controlled, secure, or government-related logistics programs.
• Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, transportation security, audit, and traceability requirements.
• Experience with SQL, Python, data modeling, ETL, Lean Six Sigma, or APICS/ASCM certifications.
• Experience leading transportation RFPs, strategic sourcing, logistics transformation, enterprise dashboards, or analyst mentoring.
