TL;DR
Lead SoC Architect (Semiconductor): Defining and integrating scalable, high-performance architectures for next-generation semiconductor products with an accent on subsystem partitioning, memory systems, interconnects, and performance modeling. Focus on leading cross-functional architecture development, evaluating third-party IP, solving power-performance-area tradeoffs, and supporting silicon bring-up and post-silicon optimization.

Location: On-site in Sunnyvale, California; must be local to the Bay Area.

Compensation: $275,000–$360,000 per year in California.

What you will do

  • Define top-level SoC architectures and partition complex semiconductor products into subsystems.
  • Lead tradeoff analysis across performance, power, area, bandwidth, latency, and scalability.
  • Develop architecture specifications, interface definitions, and microarchitecture requirements.
  • Model performance and workloads, identify bottlenecks, and define memory hierarchy, NoC, coherency, and cache strategies.
  • Evaluate and integrate CPU, GPU, NPU, PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, Ethernet, multimedia, and security IP.
  • Collaborate with RTL, verification, physical design, firmware, software, and systems teams through validation, silicon bring-up, debugging, and optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in SoC architecture, ASIC development, or complex semiconductor system design.
  • Strong understanding of modern SoC architectures, subsystem integration, RTL development, and verification methodologies.
  • Experience with CPU/GPU/NPU architectures, NoC/interconnects, cache coherency protocols, high-speed interfaces, memory systems, or power and performance optimization.
  • Experience with architecture modeling and performance analysis tools, plus familiarity with firmware and software interaction in complex SoC systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with willingness to contribute as an individual contributor while leading others.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI accelerators, GPU, networking, RISC-V, or datacenter SoC architectures.
  • Experience with chiplet-based or multi-die architectures, advanced process technologies, and package integration.
  • Experience with emulation, FPGA prototyping, and system-level validation.
  • Knowledge of Linux drivers, runtime software, or system software architecture.
  • Prior technical leadership across cross-functional engineering teams.
