Director of Construction - Water Infrastructure

Location: United States - Remote; preference for candidates residing in the Central time zone; travel as needed to support construction operations.

Base salary: $161,000–$233,000 per year, plus benefits and potential performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity depending on the role.

What you will do

• Lead planning, construction execution, commissioning, and closeout for large-scale water infrastructure and Advanced Metering Infrastructure projects.
• Direct project teams, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and construction resources to deliver safe, high-quality work.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, quality, safety, reporting, and customer expectations.
• Coordinate construction activities with engineering, operations, business development, legal, risk management, and other internal teams.
• Develop scopes of work, bid packages, contract documents, subcontractor strategies, and related negotiations.
• Evaluate technologies, equipment, vendors, and subcontractor approaches while identifying opportunities to improve execution efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or an infrastructure-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 10 years of construction, engineering, infrastructure, utility, or project management experience.
• Experience managing construction execution, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, project reporting, quality assurance, and customer expectations on complex projects.
• Strong working knowledge of construction safety requirements, subcontractor management, commissioning, project controls, and risk management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, and cloud-based construction management software such as Procore or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing issued by the resident state.

Nice to have

• Experience with municipal water infrastructure, water meter replacement, AMI/AMR deployment, utility construction, or related field implementation projects.
• Experience managing and developing direct reports and coordinating multiple subcontractors and consultants on multiphase projects.
• Construction management or project management certifications, or applicable state licensing.
