TL;DR
Site Safety Manager (Construction Safety): Managing comprehensive environmental, safety, and health programs for construction operations at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point with an accent on regulatory compliance, inspections, incident response, and preventative training. Focus on developing Accident Prevention Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses, investigating incidents, and maintaining a safe work environment across government construction activities.

Location: United States, North Carolina, Cherry Point; on-site at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock. Regular project-site presence, travel, and on-call response are required.

What you will do

  • Plan, implement, manage, and maintain environmental safety and health programs at construction project sites.
  • Advise project management on health and safety requirements and verify compliance with applicable industry, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and follow-up assessments.
  • Develop Emergency Action Plans and act as the primary contact for injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Maintain safety inspection logs, reports, correspondence, and digital records.
  • Deliver preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering, or a related discipline, or at least five years of related experience in lieu of the degree, plus a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience in commercial, government, or industrial safety management.
  • EM-385 certification and current First Aid, CPR, and OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certifications.
  • Ability to review confidential U.S. security information.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing Accident Prevention Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses.
  • Valid driver’s license, strong communication skills, and ability to travel and provide on-call response.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with DOE 10 CFR Part 851.
  • Current CHST, CSP, ASP, CSHO, or equivalent professional safety certification.
  • Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other Department of Defense construction contracts.
  • Experience using electronic safety management systems and digital reporting.
