TL;DR
Controls Technician II (DDC/HVAC Controls): Installing, checking, troubleshooting, and commissioning Direct Digital Controls systems, including control panels, field devices, sensors, actuators, and network cabling, with an accent on low-voltage wiring, point-to-point checkout, and system functionality. Focus on diagnosing wiring and communication issues, validating control sequences, maintaining as-built documentation, and supporting customer-facing startup and service work.

Location: United States, Ohio, Harrison; onsite field and construction work required

What you will do

  • Install DDC control panels, conduit, field devices, sensors, actuators, and network cabling according to engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Perform point-to-point checkout, basic troubleshooting, and system startup activities.
  • Support commissioning by testing and validating control sequences under senior supervision.
  • Diagnose wiring, device, and communication-network issues using meters, diagnostic tools, and basic software.
  • Maintain as-built documentation, redline drawings, progress reports, checklists, and material usage logs.
  • Mentor Level 1 Technicians and collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Senior Technicians, and programmers.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in HVAC, electrical, or building automation installation.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, control wiring, and device installation.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with point-to-point checkout and basic system startup.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in construction and mechanical environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Nice to have

  • Technical school apprenticeship or associate’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with building automation software such as Niagara or Tridium.
