Senior HVAC/Controls Technician

Location: Maitland, Florida, United States; field-based work conducted on-site at customer locations

Salary: $31.62–$59.91 per hour

What you will do

• Perform end-to-end testing, programming downloads, startup, commissioning, and servicing for assigned HVAC and controls projects.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment and control systems at customer locations while ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with team leaders, project managers, customers, and internal or external partners on installations, repairs, materials, and site scheduling.
• Use diagnostic software, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to resolve equipment and system issues.
• Support safety, asset accountability, and project requirements, including overtime, occasional overnight stays, and participation in an on-call rotation.
• Mentor team members and provide field-level support to Trane system engineers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or an accredited technical school certificate; typically 10 or more years of HVAC experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, lighting, and energy management controls, including sensors, actuators, and VFDs.
• Proficiency in BAS integration, BACnet, Modbus, Niagara, control logic editing, sequence optimization, and system reporting.
• Ability to independently manage complex, multi-platform environments and solve technical issues analytically.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills and ability to explain complex technical issues and system behavior.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations in the previous three years.

Nice to have

• Technical school or formal HVAC training.
• EPA certification, such as HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, or Gas Installer.
