Vice President - AI Safety Platform Engineering

Location: New York, NY, United States

Salary: USD 130,000–250,000 annual base salary, plus potential discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design and deploy a unified company-wide framework for benchmarking, testing, and measuring agentic AI performance before production release.
• Develop evaluation methods for autonomous planning, tool calling, multi-turn state retention, trajectory efficiency, and error recovery.
• Architect low-latency LLM guardrail microservices and runtime policy gateways for prompts, retrieved context, model outputs, and tool calls.
• Build human-in-the-loop approval workflows for high-risk operations, including money movement, client record changes, and external communications.
• Drive safety APIs, telemetry hooks, developer SDKs, execution sandboxes, audit logging, and MLOps/LLMOps integrations with the core AI Platform team.
• Hire, mentor, and lead engineering teams while owning the AI safety infrastructure roadmap and communicating technical risks to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Vice President experience or equivalent senior engineering leadership in financial services or large-scale enterprise software.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years leading applied ML or software engineering teams building platform infrastructure or microservices.
• At least 8 years of hands-on software development experience with Python, Go, Java, or C++ for microservices, high-throughput APIs, or enterprise platforms.
• Technical fluency with LLMs, RAG systems, function calling, tool integration, and agentic execution paradigms such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or MCP server architectures.
• Ability to partner across teams and translate model risk, regulatory, audit, and governance requirements into engineering safeguards.

Nice to have

• Experience building agent evaluation frameworks using LLM-as-a-Judge, G-Eval, trajectory trace evaluation, or task completion scoring.
• Experience with NeMo Guardrails, Guardrails AI, Llama Guard, LangSmith, OpenTelemetry, Phoenix, or MLflow.
• Experience integrating governance capabilities into shared enterprise platforms and structured audit logging infrastructure.
