Territory Manager, Specialty Care Business Development (P&C Insurance Production Underwriter - Human Services, Nonprofit)

Location: Remote within the Eastern Time Zone, with responsibility for New York State and regular travel to agency partners throughout the territory; at least 25 agency visits per year expected.

Salary: $112,000–$168,000 expected starting annual salary range; national range $112,000–$209,000.

What you will do

• Market, manage, quote, price, and underwrite new and renewal Middle Market commercial policies and endorsements.
• Own territory performance by developing agency business plans, sales strategies, pipeline actions, and profitability initiatives.
• Analyze market conditions, agency books of business, underwriting results, risks, pricing decisions, and competitive factors.
• Build and maintain relationships with agencies, brokers, producers, and internal business partners through consultations and regular agency visits.
• Develop business solutions covering appetite, acceptability, terms, conditions, pricing, risk management, and customer retention.
• Support agency training, product orientation, service delivery, workflow quality, and implementation of commercial underwriting plans.

Requirements

• Multi-line commercial insurance underwriting experience with underwriting authority.
• Human Services and Nonprofit industry experience, preferably at least five years handling related accounts.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible commercial underwriting and sales experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing, coverage, Middle Market business, state regulations, and underwriting standards.
• Strong business development, sales, agency management, relationship-building, decision-making, and independent judgment skills.
• Ability to work within the Eastern Time Zone, travel extensively throughout New York State, and hold a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Nice to have

• Strong casualty underwriting expertise, including General Liability, Professional Liability, and Abuse & Molestation.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional designation such as CPCU or CIC.
• Experience in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast regions.
