Senior Power Systems Automation Engineer

Location: Lakewood, Colorado, United States. Full-time onsite position with 25–50% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $111,000–$184,000 per year.

What you will do

• Plan, design, develop, test, and commission automation projects for utilities, industrial plants, universities, and renewable-energy sites.
• Configure real-time controllers as RTUs and implement custom logic for power-system fault location, isolation, and restoration.
• Design communication networks, HMI and server integrations, SCADA interfaces, and power-system analytics workstations.
• Lead project engineering teams in defining deliverables, schedules, budgets, and execution from design through commissioning.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Salesforce, engineers, and customers on applications, recommendations, and project requirements.
• Review and certify deliverables, prepare factory testing and field commissioning procedures, and mentor project team members.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience designing control logic schemes and network configurations.
• Ability to analyze electrical one-line drawings, DC/AC schematics, and bills of materials.
• Experience with industry-standard communication protocols including IEC-61850, DNP, and Modbus.
• Experience with server/client SCADA applications and HMI application development suites.
• Professional communication skills and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 25–50% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with phase I/O-style project management and SEL product configurations.
• IEC-61131 or Python programming experience.
• IT/OT network design and troubleshooting experience, including Wireshark.
• Substation safety training and work-from-home experience.
