Power System Controls Engineer

Location: East Peoria, Illinois, USA; the role works in an office and manufacturing shop environment and includes occasional travel.

Salary: $100,300–$160,500 annually for East Peoria, IL. Alternative salary ranges are $135,000–$178,000 for Fort Collins, CO and Denver, CO.

What you will do

• Lead the development, execution, and delivery of industrial control system projects.
• Design low- and medium-voltage switchgear and control systems for multiple generators operating in parallel with utility sources.
• Create electrical schematics, component layouts, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, bills of material, installation plans, and test plans.
• Design and implement transfer, load management, generator, microgrid, and SCADA control schemes.
• Create or modify PLC programs and project-specific HMI applications for generator paralleling switchgear.
• Support manufacturing, testing, product support, design reviews, supplier coordination, commissioning, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience programming industrial controls, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
• Training or education in industrial automation, engineering, computer science, or MIS.
• Knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power systems, grounding schemes, switchgear, ATS, generator systems, and synchronization controls.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Modicon/Schneider Electric, Siemens, or GE PLC platforms; Rockwell, Siemens, GE, or Wonderware HMI software; and Modbus or CAN bus protocols.
• Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical, electrical codes, and software used in 24/7 shop-floor environments.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of UL891, UL1558, UL Medium Voltage, and UL508A standards.
