Automation SCADA Engineer - SME (SCADA)

Location: Boerne, Texas; Fairview Heights, Illinois; or Lakewood, Colorado. The role includes travel of up to 25%.

Salary: $84,000–$144,000 per year when filled as an Application Engineer; the range may vary based on experience and level.

What you will do

• Help utility and industrial customers apply power-system automation, communications, control, and SEL products.
• Support customers through site visits, demonstrations, training courses, and phone-based technical assistance.
• Develop solutions for SCADA and automation problems using relevant engineering principles and standard techniques.
• Contribute to product specifications, application software testing, technical literature, white papers, and application guides.
• Teach SEL University courses and participate in technical meetings, conferences, marketing, and sales activities.
• Maintain expertise in power systems, SCADA, integration automation, and related SEL products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in power-systems automation and communications.
• Experience with utility or industrial power systems, including SCADA protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, SEL, IEC 61850, Ethernet/IP, and OPC UA.
• Experience with RTUs, RTACs, IEDs, SEL relays, PLCs, HMIs, serial and Ethernet communications, firewalls, security gateways, terminal servers, cellular routers, managed network switches, and SDN.
• Experience with IEC 61131-3 programming, including Structured Text, Continuous Function Chart, and Ladder Diagram, plus troubleshooting with Wireshark.
• Strong technical communication, training, writing, customer-service, teamwork, problem-solving, and professional conduct skills.
