Senior Claims Counsel (Title Insurance)

Location: Remote across the United States; hybrid work required for employees within commuting distance of the Santa Ana, California office.

Salary: $129,300–$172,300 annually.

What you will do

• Investigate title insurance and escrow claims, determine coverage, evaluate losses and defenses, and manage claims through resolution.
• Develop resolution strategies and negotiate settlements with claimants, opposing counsel, and third parties.
• Represent the company in court proceedings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Manage claim budgets, reserves, outside counsel invoices, and litigation expenses.
• Direct outside counsel on litigation strategy and pursue sources of recovery.

Requirements

• 12+ years of legal experience, with emphasis on real estate matters, insurance coverage, and claims handling.
• Experience with litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
• Law degree required.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in any U.S. state.
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, organizational, analytical, and independent decision-making skills.
