Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States

Base salary: $123,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Provide operational support for Amazon EKS self-service capabilities, including namespace governance, workload scaling, multi-tenancy, and adaptive ingress and egress.
• Implement observability standards covering request sources, identities, routes, outcomes, saturation, and cost across environments.
• Create documentation, diagrams, and diagnostics that help engineers troubleshoot connectivity and platform issues.
• Support code lifecycle management through versioning, safe migrations, deprecations, usage telemetry, and resource cleanup.
• Build automated policies and processes for deployment practices, code hygiene, and testing standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and senior stakeholders to deliver the platform roadmap.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, plus 2–5 years of experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one of Go, TypeScript, Python, or C#.
• Experience with disciplined source-control workflows, including branching, code reviews, and automated gates.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or GitLab and Amazon EKS for feature development and operational support.
• Working knowledge of Datadog, Splunk, or OpenTelemetry.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes CRDs and operators, developer connectivity abstractions, guardrails, and automated tests.
• Experience with Terraform or CDK, GitOps, progressive or canary rollouts, and policy-as-code integration.
• Familiarity with observability practices and SLOs, including metrics, tracing, and structured logs.
