Sr. Systems Engineer - Linux

Location: On-site at hirify.global HQ in San Diego, California; remote work is not offered.

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 per year, plus eligible annual discretionary cash and restricted stock unit bonus targets of 10% each.

What you will do

• Manage, build, patch, tune, and secure enterprise Linux/Unix systems.
• Develop and maintain Puppet modules and manifests for provisioning, patching, deployment, configuration standardization, and drift remediation.
• Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments, including Linux/Unix virtual machines and templates.
• Support high availability, backup, disaster recovery, capacity planning, failover testing, and DR drills.
• Provide L2/L3 production support, participate in P1/P2 incident management and root-cause analysis, and automate recovery tasks with Bash and Python.
• Execute changes through ServiceNow and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and audit-ready documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Linux administration experience.
• Strong Puppet configuration-management expertise.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Production support and incident-management experience.
• Scripting experience with Bash and Python, plus knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and storage systems.
• Experience with ITSM incident and change management.

• RHCE or RHCSA certification.
• VMware VCP certification.
• Puppet Certified Professional certification.
• ITIL certification.
