Director, Underwriting (PBM)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or another company location. Remote work may be approved by management based on business requirements. Domestic travel may be required.

Salary: $155,380–$287,451 per year, with a stated midpoint of $221,416.

What you will do

• Prepare revenue estimates and profit-and-loss analyses for new and existing clients based on RFP requirements and client specifications.
• Develop financial quote strategies that balance client cost performance with hirify.global revenue opportunities.
• Evaluate standard business costs, market trends, drug-cost statistics, and pricing opportunities for new products.
• Track bid offerings and prepare executive reporting on market evolution and competitive improvements.
• Monitor variances between profit-and-loss statements and underwriting results.
• Review pricing, rebate, discount-guarantee, and product-service contract language, and discuss financial proposals with clients and consultants.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 12 years of related experience and 10 years as a subject-matter expert in the relevant area.
• Eight years of supervisory experience, or the stated hirify.global experience and leadership-training alternative.
• Knowledge of the PBM or healthcare industry, liability exposure, cost accounting, and pricing functions.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
