Sr Systems Engineer (Azure)

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year, plus target annual discretionary cash and restricted stock unit bonuses of 10% each.

What you will do

• Own Azure subscription architecture, virtual network topology, IaaS and PaaS resource lifecycle, baseline configuration, and infrastructure initiatives.
• Administer Entra ID, Azure AD Connect, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, RBAC, application registrations, and hybrid identity governance.
• Maintain the Azure security and compliance posture through Defender for Cloud remediation, Azure Policy, least-privilege RBAC, FFIEC-aligned governance, and audit preparation.
• Manage Azure cost analysis, budgets, anomaly detection, forecasting, tagging compliance, right-sizing, and resource optimization.
• Build Azure Automation runbooks and PowerShell/Python scripts, configure Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, and maintain operational documentation.
• Partner on architecture decisions, cross-domain escalations, technical standards, cross-training, and ServiceNow change and knowledge management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and verifiable experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Microsoft Azure infrastructure and identity technologies.
• 5+ years administering Active Directory Domain Services in a multi-domain enterprise environment.
• 4+ years with Entra ID, including Conditional Access, PIM, and Azure AD Connect in a hybrid identity environment.
• 3+ years in a federally regulated industry with audit, change management, and compliance documentation experience.
• Experience with Azure networking, Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Azure Cost Management, and maintainable PowerShell automation; Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) is required.
