Sr. Portfolio Associate (Commercial Real Estate Lending)

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $75,000–$87,500 per year, plus discretionary bonus targets of 10% cash and 10% restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Manage a commercial real estate loan portfolio covering multifamily, mixed-use, and hospitality assets.
• Conduct quarterly loan reviews and analyze borrower financials, collateral performance, DSCR, LTV, credit trends, and risk ratings.
• Monitor covenants, holdbacks, financial reporting, and borrower compliance requirements.
• Underwrite and process modifications, extensions, payoffs, collateral releases, impound releases, and insurance claim disbursements.
• Identify deteriorating credits, escalate potential problem loans, and support loss mitigation and asset recovery.
• Prepare portfolio reporting and collaborate with Loan Servicing, Credit Analytics, Legal, Special Assets, and Relationship Managers while mentoring junior analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in commercial real estate lending, portfolio management, underwriting, or loan servicing.
• Strong understanding of CRE credit metrics and structures, including DSCR, LTV, NOI, and global cash flow analysis.
• Experience with loan modifications, covenant compliance, payoffs, collateral releases, financial statement analysis, and independent credit risk assessment.
• Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and compliance skills.
