Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: On-site in Austin, Texas

hirify.global is an early-stage hardware startup developing semiconductor fabrication equipment, including the necessary hardware, software, fabs, tools, and components.

What you will do

• Own semiconductor fabrication systems and subsystems end to end, including deposition, etch, annealing, and plasma tools.
• Design and iterate on machines, frames, components, assemblies, and supporting subsystems.
• Work with mass flow controllers, pressure sensors, valves, pumps, fittings, tubing, chambers, and thermal systems.
• Partner with process, electrical, software, and production teams to build and validate complex systems.
• Source components and materials and coordinate with vendors to meet project specifications.

Requirements

• 2–7 years of professional experience in mechanical and electromechanical system design.
• 2–7 years of hands-on experience building, prototyping, and assembling complex systems.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or Physics.
• Experience designing vacuum systems or fluid-handling hardware.
• Strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Ability to design and ship machined and fabricated metal parts into working systems; a portfolio of built projects is generally required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge or experience with plasma systems, CVD, or ALD.
• Familiarity with leak detection techniques and vacuum diagnostics.
• Experience with productionization and testing.
