Project Architect - Residential

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; occasional travel for nationwide clients and projects.

Salary: $105,000–$125,000 annually, subject to factors including experience, qualifications, certifications, internal equity, and location.

What you will do

• Lead residential architectural projects, especially Type III and Type V developments, from yield studies and unit planning through entitlements, documentation, and construction administration.
• Direct programming and design based on project opportunities, limitations, and construction types.
• Translate project intent into code-compliant drawings and specifications, including accessibility and fair-housing requirements.
• Coordinate construction documents with project teams, engineers, consultants, and builders while managing building-system coordination, envelope detailing, and constructability.
• Partner with the Project Manager to track schedules, budgets, resources, and project risk.
• Maintain client relationships, conduct quality reviews, and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of architectural experience focused on residential projects.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Registered Architect with a current license.
• Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and project management software.
• Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and client relationship skills, with experience delivering residential projects at varying scales.
