Construction Manager (Power Systems)

Location: Lewis Center, Ohio; primarily on location throughout the United States, with residence required within approximately 45 minutes of an existing SEL office. Extensive travel of up to 75% is required, including extended assignments at construction sites, substations, transmission corridors, and customer facilities.

Salary: $115,000–$175,000 per year.

What you will do

• Provide construction leadership and oversight for complex substation and transmission line projects from mobilization through commissioning and closeout.
• Act as a subject matter expert in high-voltage electrical systems and utility construction practices, including design, electrical, and constructability reviews.
• Lead project execution with responsibility for schedules, costs, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with SEL engineering, project management, field services teams, contractors, customers, utilities, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage internal resources, subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews to meet contractual, technical, and safety requirements.
• Support continuous improvement and mentor construction and project staff.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Extensive experience managing electric substation and/or transmission line construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and power delivery infrastructure.
• Current or obtainable TWIC card.
• Current or obtainable General Contractor and/or Electrical Contractor licenses in multiple U.S. states, with willingness to act as SEL’s license qualifier.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and safety-management skills, with experience supporting large-scale utility or EPC projects.

Nice to have

• Experience qualifying or maintaining General Contractor licenses for a multi-state or national contractor.
• Familiarity with SEL protection, control, and power system solutions.
