Software Engineer III- Eng (Payroll SaaS)

Salary: $102,300–$147,050 per year, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Own the design, implementation, testing, and production delivery of payroll features and service components.
• Build payroll calculations, data transformations, processing workflows, backend services, APIs, and data models.
• Apply payroll concepts including earnings, deductions, taxes, retroactive changes, and off-cycle runs.
• Investigate production defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventative fixes.
• Improve reliability, performance, resiliency, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and platform teams while mentoring junior engineers through pairing and code feedback.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building backend services with .NET Core or similar modern frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL, and data modeling.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of distributed-systems concepts such as concurrency, idempotency, and fault tolerance.
• Ability to independently deliver moderately complex features within a collaborative engineering team.

Nice to have

• Experience in payroll, HCM, financial services, or another regulated domain.
• Exposure to event-driven or batch-processing architectures.
• Production support, on-call, or incident-response experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud-native deployments, legacy-system modernization, or Angular integration patterns.
