TL;DR
Software Development Engineer II–III (EDI Enrollment) (Java/Python/EDI): Developing, testing, deploying, and documenting complex application systems and data integrations for health care enrollment with an accent on EDI, APIs, data pipelines, and secure software practices. Focus on designing maintainable solutions, resolving complex technical problems, creating automated tests, and coordinating with business and technology partners.

Location: Hybrid, three days per week in the office in Burlington, Renton, Spokane, Vancouver, Portland, Medford, Salt Lake City, Boise, Lewiston, or Fargo. Candidates must reside within commuting distance or be willing to relocate.

Salary: Software Development Engineer II expected hiring range of $81,000–$109,000 or full range of $81,000–$142,000 depending on location; Software Development Engineer III expected hiring range of $90,000–$131,000 or full range of $90,000–$208,000. Bonus target is 15% where specified.

What you will do

  • Develop, direct, test, deploy, and maintain efficient application and system code.
  • Design solutions for complex business processes, including EDI enrollment and data integrations.
  • Research and resolve complex technical issues for IT, business partners, and external technology partners.
  • Prepare system designs, work estimates, test plans, test data, and operational documentation.
  • Participate in software development lifecycle deliverables, process improvements, and Communities of Practice.
  • Lead collaboration with business customers and technical partners while meeting delivery and quality expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience for level II or at least 5 years for level III in a multi-platform environment.
  • Experience with software development, debugging, databases, system testing, documentation, and secure coding practices.
  • Familiarity with TDD, BDD, unit and behavior testing, CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, and RESTful or GraphQL API design.
  • Knowledge of defensive programming, OWASP Top 10, authentication principles, data stewardship, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, work independently, and solve complex open-ended problems.

Nice to have

  • Java, Python, Tomcat, Jenkins, web services, XML, and SQL or data warehouse integrations.
  • Experience with Facets, Edifecs, EDI, data pipelines, or test automation.
