Staff Business Data Analyst (Fintech)

Location: Mountain View, California or San Diego, California, United States

Base pay range: $169,500–$229,000 in Mountain View or $151,000–$204,000 in San Diego, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end analytics across operational excellence, development productivity, and cloud FinOps initiatives.
• Translate business strategy and reporting needs into actionable data requirements and communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Partner with engineering to modernize the structure, access, and consumption of financial and operational data.
• Define data integrity standards and protect business continuity during system transformations.
• Move teams from manual reporting to scalable, self-service, and forward-looking analytics.
• Guide solution design and delivery standards, mentor analysts, and advise leadership on downstream analytics impacts.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related data-focused roles.
• Experience translating business needs into technical requirements and serving as a liaison between business and engineering teams.
• Experience with financial systems, cloud FinOps, planning and analytics applications, and finance data models.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets across multiple systems.
• Experience mentoring analysts, managing trade-offs, and operating independently in an evolving environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud data warehouses and BI tools.
• Familiarity with chart of accounts structures.
• Experience transitioning teams to self-service or scalable analytics solutions.
